Day 1
Arrival at Santiago Airport and transfer to your hotel in the capital city Praia. Your hotel is located on the Plateau, the historic centre of the capital. From here you easily get to the markets, shops, restaurants and bars of the city.

Day 2
First we get to know the historic part of the capital. On a guided walk over the Palteau we visit the colonial main square and the colorful and vivid fruit market. Afterwards we drive to Cidade Velha, the first settlement and first capital of the archipelago, nowadays a UNESCO world heritage site. From the fortress we can enjoy the view over the ocean and the village which we get to know in detail on the following tour. The pillory and the first chirch of west africa still remind of the era of navigators and pirates.

Day 3
Enjoy an island drive through the south of the most african island of all. We drive through green countryside, past small villages and huge mountains. At different stops we are able to breath the mountain air and have breathtaking views over this vulcanic island. Let´s have a coffee break in the shadow of the highest mountain of the island, the "pico d´Antonia" to reinforce ourselves and continue through the greenest valleys of Cape Verde back to the hotel.

Day 4
Flight to Fogo. When the plane approaches the island of Fire, one can't imagine the wide spectrum of colours this island has to offer. But what will charm us in São Filipe are the elegant and noble colonial mansions (sobrados), the pretty little streets leading to the ocean and the vivid colours of the Church Nossa Senhora da Conceição. Our guide will tell us interesting stories about the town at the foot of the majestic vulcan. Night in São Filipe.

Day 5
We give this day an early start, and off we are to the crater rim. Alone the ride uphill is breathtaking - suddenly, after a curve, the vulcan: majestic and impressive. While getting closer to the volcano, wandering in the caldeira (literally the cauldron) through cultivated fields and spectacular landscapes, we can't believe the blend of colours we have before our eyes. Our guide takes us to the lava fields of the last eruptions 1951, 1995 and 2014. Here we can see, why this island is called fire. In this mystic atmosphere we enjoy a picnic before heading back to São Filipe.

Day 6
We have to bid farewell to the crater, the Pico and to the island of Fogo. It's a special moment to see the volcano from the plane, after spending two nights so close to it.
We trade the Leeward Islands (Sotavento) for the Windward Islands (Barlavento). Our first stop is in Mindelo, the cultural capital of the country. We enjoy the colours, the music, the fragrances of this magical city. Night in the historic centre of Mindelo.

Day 7
A day in Mindelo, the proud cultural capital, with its music, the Carnival, the sailors' taverns - and let's not forget about the view upon the bay. As the famous barefoot diva Cesária Évora once sang: Quem ca ta conxê Mindelo, ca ta conché Cabo Verde: who does not know Mindelo, does not know Cape Verde. Thanks to our guide we learn more about the history of this elegant town. Why not visit the urban beach "laginha" in the afternoon to take a bath in the clear blue ocean?

Day 8
By ferry we arrive at Santo Antão in the early morning. Our driver already waits for us at the harbour of Porto Novo. He takes us to the north of the island on the old mountain pass road - providing us the most beautiful views over São Vicente. Later we arrive at the greenest valley of Cape Verde. We drive through tropical vegetation, passing sugarcane, banana, mango and papaya trees. In an idyllic restaurant we´ll have the traditional dish "catxupa" before we head to our hotel in Ponta do Sol.

Day 9
Right after breakfast our driver waits for us at the hotel. We once again dive into the spectacular green and mountainous landscapes of Santo Antão. First we drive to Fontainhas. The picturesque village located at a steep hillside is one of the most beautiful of Cape Verde and invites for a break. Afterwards we drive through the amazing valley Ribeira Grande until we arrive at Cha de Igreja, where a welcoming family serves us traditional lunch. In the afternoon we head back to Ponta do Sol.

Day 10
We get back to São Vicente by ferry and by plane we arrive at the leisure island Sal. A driver takes us to our lovely guesthouse in Santa Maria. Let´s look forward to relaxing days at the endless beaches of Santa Maria.

Day 11
Vacation! No appointments, lazy at the beach. Or dancing to bouncing rythms in one of the dicos at night? Sal is one of the three Beach-islands. Relaxing in the sun, walking at the beach, taking a swim - enjoy some days of real vacation and let the past few days sink in. In Santa Maria we find the most beautiful beach of the island, along many shops, restaurants and bars. Our driver takes us to the old saline. Sal literally means salt and the island once had a flourishing salt production. A highlight is the zero-gravity hovering in the brine. Not yet the dead sea - but still fascinating.

Although no vaccine is mandatory to enter Cape Verde, it seems there is an active virus around: whoever catches it can only think about one thing: go back to Cape Verde. See you soon!
