Day 1

Arrival at the airport 'Nelson Mandela' and fist shock: it is much hotter than at our departure and the air seems so pure. Here we are in Santiago, the biggest of the archipelago's islands. The culture, the atmosphere, the way of life - everything here is, due to historical and geographical reasons, more african than on the other islands. Overnight on Plateau, the historical centre of the capital Praia. In hotel Santa Maria or similar (-/-/-)

Day 2 Santiago + Fogo
We leave the island of Santiago for a few days to visit the island of Fogo. When the plane approaches Fogo, the fascination begins to be felt, impossible to detach the eyes of this great dark cone that stands out majestically from the ocean... We spend the next two nights in a former crater with gigantic proportions, the legend says that we dream a little crazy - which can be due to some glasses of redwine that we might have up there. Day 3 Hike 6 h // level 3 // + 1100 m/ - 1100 m
(or according to your choice)
A day in the company of our guide who will bring us up the volcano (our physical shape will decide which hike to chose - there are many hikes in the area): the big volcano for foodies or the small one for the more careful ones. Before dawn we have breakfast because we need to leave early to avoid the excessive heat of the day. Once we reach the summit (2829 metres/9281 feet), and if the weather allows it, we are rewarded by an astonishing view upon the crater and ancient or recent laval flows. A second reward lies in the descent: we have the choice between running, sliding or rolling down the pozzolan gravel... It's so much fun, we'll want to hike up to be able to go down again!

Day 4 Fogo > Boavista
Flight to paradise. With endless beaches, deserts with huge dunes, surprising oasises and post-card-like colours, Boavista has everything to be loved. We switch off our phones and are available for nobody. Our small little accomodation close to the sea is a real little cocoon far away from the big resorts that showed up lately on the island. Day 5
We thought of taking advantage of the day to solve some problems in the world, definitely end the tensions in the Middle-East, giving solutions to lower the global earth-warming, find an alternative for plastic - and finally we postpone all this to next week and we will continue to relax on the beach. Day 6
A really busy program today: tanning, building a sand castle, a splash into the ocean, collection of starfish...hopefully a little bit of relaxing in the evening. Overnight in Migrante Guesthouse or similar (B/-/-).

Day 7 Santiago - Praia
Today we are heading back to Praia: it is the capital and the rythm there is different than on top of a volcano or on the beach. To soften the shock we will look for a restaurant with live music: no way of getting depressed after all these beautiful emotions. Night in Praia at hotel Santa Maria or similar. (B/-/-)

Day 8
Alas, the time has come to carefully pack our bottle of grog in our suitcase - it will help to mata sodad (kill the nostalgia) once you're home. Although no vaccine is mandatory to enter Cape Verde, it seems there is an active virus around: whoever catches it can only think about one thing: go back to Cape Verde. See you soon! (B/-/-)
